Hi, I'm Daz. I am from Sydney, Australia. Welcome to my online portfolio.
I am a artist and programmer, using these skills together I create my own games. Lately I have been working with Unreal Engine 4. I consider my greatest ability to be able to manage, understand, communicate and work in any part of the Game Development pipeline, which I have earnt through my constant practice and broad skill base. When working with Unreal Engine 4, I find the lines between artist and programmer tend to blur a lot with the Blueprints node-based scripting technology, which I am very fond of.
I am also interested in any non-game projects to which my skills apply, including 3D Animation and Illustration.

Sorcerer is an FPS inspired by heretic and hexen.
ZeroZ is an action sidescroller I programmed in Java with the framework game engine LibGDX and physics engine Box2D, LibGDX is open-source, it is similar to other simple frameworks for creating games such as XNA. Initially I expected Zero-Z to be a game, similar to games like contra for genesis/megadrive.
However as the game developed I noticed that the jumping puzzles where often more fun and engaging than the combat and the game became more about those puzzles, Zero-Z ran amazingly well on most mobile devices, the biggest performance hog of the game was box2d.
The key thing I learned from libgdx was how to create an manage my own game architecture, creating managers to handle the particles, enemies and remove those entities from memory. I'm quite proud of this game and I think people enjoyed it.
Biplane Ace is a test game, it took me about a month and a half to create, including the time I spent learning Unreal Engine 4, unfortunatly BiPlane Ace didn't hold up very well with the users, it was more of a test project, it has no sound and I made it just to get familiar with Unreal Engine 4.
Some of the older games I have worked on in C++, with openGL are on GitHub.
Game Jams are short game development sessions, usually over a weekend that challange participants to create entirely new, fully playable games (often prototypes) over that small time period.
Battle Field Love is a Tower defence style game made over a weekend by myself for the online game jame, hosted by epic over at the unreal developer forums.

Back to Square One is a simple platformer, it's simple game mechanics provide challenges.
I worked on Forest Frenzy at a 48 hour GameJam, with 2 other developers, I took created many of the in-game art assets, such as waterfalls, trees and rocks and managed the color pallete. I really enjoyed this collaboration.
Online/Remote work for $30 USD per hour, up to 50% discount for low-budget/indie titles of interest.
